1.Chapter 1 Revelation
The elevator slowly made its way up. Felicia Gray's heart was filled with expectations and love at the thought of Morgan Waltz. She had not seen him for two weeks. He had told her that he had good news for her. She wondered if he would propose. She had been anticipating his proposal.
Felicia was holding onto a box of Financiers. She had woken up at three in the morning to make them for him. She was worried his throat might get dry from eating them. She had thus brought along some Earl Grey tea for him. If he liked the Financiers, she would be more than willing to make them for him any time.
The elevator dinged. It had reached the highest level. Felicia could not wait to make her way to the CEO's office. There was still an hour and a half left before the start of work. The corridor was silent. Felicia wanted to spring a surprise on Morgan. She tiptoed and headed toward the office.
She walked to her room first. She was going to push the door open to place her bag inside. However, she saw that the door of the CEO's office was slightly open. Some sounds were coming out of the room.
Felicia was shocked. She looked toward the office. It was a little over 6 feet away. She walked toward it. She pushed the door. It was empty. However, the sounds were getting more distinctive. It was a woman's voice. It was coming out of Morgan's resting room. "Morgan, let's take it slowly. You're hurting me..."
Words could not describe Felicia's shock. Her head felt like it had been split in two. Anyone could tell what was happening.
However, Felicia tried to convince herself that it was impossible. It was Morgan's office. The idea of such a scene happening in his office was inconceivable.
After some time, she mechanically walked into the CEO's office. She had heard the woman mention Morgan's name. However, she could not believe what she heard. It was implausible that her middle school sweetheart would be capable of something like that.
Felicia continued to reassure herself. However, her last dash of hope was shattered by a familiar voice that sounded next. "Baby, you're so attractive. I love you so much."
It was Morgan's voice. That familiar voice had always mesmerized her. She could recognize it even ten or twenty years later.
"Morgan, I love you too. However, we need to think about your brother. I'm still his fiancée. He'll be back tomorrow. If he knows we're together, he'll kill me!"
"That's impossible. No matter what, he's my brother. Moreover, you're carrying my child. You've no idea how much my mother yearns for a grandchild. If she knows about it, she'll help to persuade him."
"What about that secretary of yours, Felicia? Isn't she your betrothed? What shall we do about her?"
"There's nothing to worry about that foolish woman. If I had not been indebted to her father, I'd have already kicked her out of the Waltz Group. Baby, you're the only one I love."
Felicia had been in love with Morgan for nine whole years. She did not expect to hear him call her a foolish woman. She could not hold back the tears in her eyes. Everything before her became blurry. The tea that she was holding fell with a plop. The Financiers rolled onto the floor.
Her tears were like a running tap. She smiled bitterly. Her heart felt like it had been wrenched. She had never experienced such pain before. She almost could not breathe.
It had been nine years. Felicia remembered everything about Morgan. She remembered every word he said, his preferences, his clothing, and his habits. However, he was right to call her a foolish woman. She was indeed a foolish one.
